[Verse 1]
모든 게 변해버린 우리 사이 나 홀로 외쳐 blue
[When] everything has changed between us, lone, I cry out Blue
너로 인해 물들어 새파란 눈물이 맺혀
Deep blue tears, dyed layer by layer, due to you
봄 여름 가을 겨울 항상 그 느낌 그대로 Blue
Spring, summer, autumn, winter, always that feeling, as it is Blue
돌아가고 싶어 아무것도 모르던 그때로 Blue
I want to return to when I didn’t know anything, as it was Blue
[Chorus]
Blue side, blue side
Back to blue side, blue side (x4)
[Verse 2]
차가움에 태양이 비추고 구름이 감싸준 Blue
In the coldness, the sun shines and the cloud covers Blue
하늘 바람 타고 지금 이 순간 그곳으로 Blue
Riding the (sky’s) wind now, in this moment, to that place Blue
지금 날 위로해 주는 내 마음의 Blue
Now comforting me, my heart’s Blue
파란 달빛 아래 나 홀로 Blue
Under the blue moonlight, I am lone Blue
[Pre-chorus]
어둠 속 내 아픔을 토해낼 때
When I throw up my pain in the darkness
한숨으로 찬 공기가 죄어올 때
When the cold air chokes [me] with a sigh
난 느꼈어
I felt [it]
무지개다리에
On the rainbow bridge
파란 길만 걷고 싶단 걸
I want to walk only on the blue road
I’m singing my blues
Singing my bloom
Back in my room
그립다 그 시절 파란 나와 가벼운 숨
I miss that time, that blue me and that light [easy] breathe
냉정과 열정 사이 그 무게를 재보지만
I weigh between [being] cool-headed and passionate but
지금 난 그저 파랗게 타서 죽고 싶다
Now I just want to die, burning blue
[Chorus]
Blue Side Blue Side
Back to Blue Side Blue Side (4x)
Blue Side
Back to Blue Side (2x)
[Bridge]
내 파란 꿈속에
In my blue dream
널 담을래
[I] want to put you
아니라고 해도
Even if you say no
내 눈 속에
In my eyes
내 파란 꿈속에
In my blue dream
널 안을래
I want to hold you
안 된다고 해도
Even if you say I can’t
내 품속에
In my arms
[Outro]
Blue Side
Back to Blue Side (x4)
Notes
1. I chose “lone” instead of “alone” as Hobi uses an literary form that is not spoken in colloquial Korean.
2. In Korean, “blue” can have the same connotation of someone who is “green” in English, meaning inexperienced or young.
3. I chose “dye” instead of taint, stain or color because the original Korean word contains the word “water”. I also chose “layer by layer” to convey tears that “form”and “accumulate” over time.
4. I chose “as it was” instead of “back then” as this mimics how the Korean lyrics progresses with “as it is”.
5. In Korean, “마음” means more than “heart”; it includes the concept of
“heart”, “mind”, and “will”.
6. “Throw up” is a literal translation. It could also be to “vent”, “let out” or “expel”.
7. I chose the word “chokes” to describe the ongoing tightening or squeezing sensation that the Korean lyrics alludes to.
8. “Rainbow bridge” alludes to crossing over from earth to heaven.
9. I chose “weigh” in lieu of “measure the weight” for ease of comprehension in English.
10. In Korean, 품속에 brings up the image of a chest. So while I translated this as “In my arms” for ease of comprehension, the literal translation is “In my bosom”.
